I am known for my whimsical paintings of cats and other creatures, so it was natural for my mind to leap to a favorite old nursery rhyme, 'Hey Diddle Diddle, the cat and the fiddle and the cow jumped over the moon....' Maybe some of the artists in the DYAO will recognize the story. While I am currently working mainly in acrylic and pastel, for years I was focused on screen printing. My love of color and design is reflected in all of my art work.
Joyce Shelton has a BFA '68 from the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, in Commercial Art. Her focus for many years was screen printing and she earned many awards in that medium. In the recent years she has been painting and doing pastels. Her love of strong color and design have translated from her prints to her current work. Her art is in private collections in the USA and Europe. Her work is available through the Foothills Art Center in Golden, CO.
