About Painted Violin

14th Annual Painted Violin Project

The Denver Young Artists Orchestra added the Painted Violin fundraising project under the direction of past Executive Director, Erin McLain. Over the past 14 years, we have seen it grow from a handful of pieces to more than 22 total pieces in a given season. We have seen other instruments become a part of the collection as well, such as cellos, violas, basses and a mandolin.  At this point in time, we have featured nearly 160 pieces in numerous galleries and most recently in larger venues, such as Boettcher Concert Hall and the Lakewood Cultural Center. The Painted Violin project is a way to market Colorado’s premier youth orchestra, the Denver Young Artists Orchestra. We are very grateful to all of the artists, galleries, and venues who have allowed us the opportunity to display the art and support the DYAO.

Welcome to this year’s magnificent collection from our dedicated and talented artists. Please join us for our concerts and enjoy the art on display. If you take a strong liking to one of the pieces, please let us know and we will be delighted to talk with you about it. You may reach us by calling 303-433-2420.

The Denver Young Artist Orchestra (DYAO) was founded in 1977 under the auspices of the Denver Symphony Orchestra. DYAO performs in Boettcher Concert Hall (home of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra) in the heart of Denver’s city center. DYAO’s mission is to provide the finest possible youth orchestra programs, inspiring and educating young musicians through the performance of great works of music and offering valuable cultural opportunities to the community.

DYAO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Tax ID #84-0809348.
