“My work is inspired by the beauty of Colorado and the West. The bold, saturated palette, and strong textural elements invite the viewer to use not only their visual sense, but also their tactile sense to experience my paintings.”

Carol Nelson was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota. After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a degree in medical technology, she lived in southern California for many years raising a family. Upon moving to Colorado in 1978, her lifelong interest in art finally blossomed into an art career. Carol’s art education was primarily in the form of workshops taken with nationally famous artists. After sampling several different art media, she now works primarily in oils, acrylics, and mixed media. She frequently conducts classes and workshops in Colorado and around the country teaching other artists her techniques in experimental acrylics. “While my artistic vision is expressed in both realism and abstraction, the common elements are strong brushwork, dynamic composition, and an earthy, vibrant palette.” Carol exhibits her work in galleries, art festivals, and through a strong internet presence resulting in domestic and international sales in Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, UK, and Malaysia. Her work is part of many corporate and civic collections including Kaiser Permanente and the cities of Castle Rock, Lone Tree, and Aurora. Her website has all her recent work categorized according to style and subject matter. For more information, including upcoming events and workshops, please visit www.carolnelsonfineart.com.
