Jennifer Pettus

“I make shadowboxes as a record of items that are destined to evolve both physically and culturally. For this piece I worked with that idea, but with an eye to music as both transient and steadfast. I combined quilting, embroidery, and jewelry work with altered pieces of the original instrument to create a hybrid musical “body” that reflects the form and function of music as an extension of the physical and cultural body.”
