“My purpose in every painting is to catch the eye with bright color and leave the viewer with a smile on their face and a light heart. My art is driven by my love of vibrant colors, the sea and charm of small villages. Every painting is designed to not only attract with wonderful color, but also to instill the viewer with a sense of peace and fun. It’s always been my feeling that art should bring joy to one’s heart. There are so many places in the world that have a true magic of their own and I try to bring that magic to my paintings.”

Judi Schultze has a deep appreciation and love of the sea and the outdoors in general. She captures the mood and colors of the sea and the coastal villages she loves, putting her own whimsical slant on them and instilling in them a positive energy. It is her hope that those who view her work experience the same joy and pleasure that she derives from creating them. Judi has always found great joy and peace in painting. As a child she was fortunate to be introduced to art by her mother, a talented painter in her own right, and her two grandmothers, all of whom encouraged her artistic endeavors, whether it was working with fabric or pastel. In her younger years, marriage, motherhood and two careers filled the vast majority of Judi’s time, but she never lost her love of art. Once she left the business world and her daughter had completed college, she has been able to devote her time to her true passion – art. For a time she became involved in art quilting, designing and completing pieces for clients in the United States, England and France. After a few years she returned to her first love in the arts – pastels - and here she has found her voice. When working with pastels, Judi finds that the ability to “work” and feel the medium with her fingers allows her to convey her feelings through her art and put more of herself directly into her work. She has worked on several different types of paper surfaces but has found Pastelmat allows her to layer color to an extent such that she is able to bring a brilliance, depth and richness to colors that other surfaces do not. Judi is represented by Osmosis, Niwot, Colorado, Rembrandt Yard, Boulder, Colorado, and Westside Studio, Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia. She is thrilled to have been asked to paint a violin by the Denver Young Artists’ Orchestra for their 8th fundraising season. She is a member of Colorado Pastel Society. A California native, Judi and her husband have also lived in Florida and Arizona. Their daughter was born in Arizona. A decision in 1997 to change direction in their lives brought them to Boulder, Colorado. Today, Judi and Ray live in Longmont, Colorado. Judi’s work is alive with color and joy. Her paintings are held in many private collections. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
