Roberta “Bobbi” Shupe

“Oh La La” is a mixed media creation with an Art Deco flair and bling. Using a variety of paints, cut paper, gems and fabric, I stiffened, shaded, drew, painted and glued.”

PV-Bobbi-ShupeTrained as a commercial and fine artist, Bobbi has degrees from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO and The Art Institute of Colorado in Denver. She worked for Hallmark Cards, Inc. in the Christmas ornament department and greeting card department. Bobbi left Hallmark to become the design director for a Specialty Product Company, Décor Noel, Inc. in Memphis, TN. She returned to Denver, CO to establish the “off site” design department for Décor Noel. After Décor closed its doors, Bobbi began her own design, illustration and decorative painting company, E.P. Puffin & Co. Her book cover designs & illustrations and interior illustrations have won numerous awards.

Bobbi’s work reflects a tinge of childhood fantasy. She’s always had an affinity for making things. Combining artistic elements and “things” in a perfect balance is like playing. This does mean that nothing can be disposed of but allows for infinite discovery. An instructor at The Art Institute of Colorado once ridiculed her for a project she had created in papíer maché. She has carried that memory with her and relishes in the use of this and other simple mediums from childhood. Her background in faux techniques is very obvious.
